Una de mis resoluciones para el año nuevo fue disfrutar más de la música en vivo. Durante los años en que fui estudiante en la universidad, la escena musical de Dublín era increíble y aprovechaba cada oportunidad que tenía para ir a conciertos. Bandas indie, DJs, festivales, ceídhlís… ¡si había música en vivo y buen ambiente, nunca decía que no!

Desde que tomé esta resolución, es como si el universo estuviera conspirando para presentarme eventos musicales justo delante de mis narices. Recientemente, durante un paseo, me di cuenta de que había un póster en una puerta, una puerta por la que debo de haber pasado mil veces antes sin mirarla ni un segundo. El póster anunciaba eventos en un estudio de grabación: Rosazul. Y, claro que sí, justo encima de la puerta había un cartel discreto con este nombre. ¿Cómo era posible que hubiera vivido tan cerca durante cuatro años y nunca me hubiera dado cuenta de que este lugar existía?

Unos momentos después, ya estaba mirando su sitio web para ver todos los conciertos que estaban programando para las semanas siguientes. Decidí comprar entradas para un espectáculo de tango para mis padres y para mí, para que pudiéramos disfrutar de algo diferente.

¡Y qué feliz estaba de haber descubierto este lugar! El espectáculo contó con una cantante muy talentosa de Buenos Aires, cuya alma antigua brillaba mientras actuaba ante un pequeño público de unas diez personas. La acompañaba el pianista más encantador que he tenido el placer de escuchar. ¡Una experiencia realmente increíble!

Otra noche, disfrutamos de un show con un saxofonista de jazz y su banda en esta joya de un local íntimo. ¡Es una buena manera de descubrir música de todas partes del mundo!

One of my New Year’s resolution for was to enjoy more live music. During my college years, the music scene in Dublin was hopping and I was going to gigs every chance I got. Indie bands, DJs, festivals, ceídhlís; if there was live music and good vibes I never said no!

Ever since I made this resolution, it’s as if the universe has been conspiring to place music events directly in my path. Recently, during a short stroll to one of my favorite local cafés, I noticed a poster on a door, a door I must have passed countless times without a second glance. It was advertising concerts at a recording studio called Rosazul. And sure enough, just above the door, there was an inconspicuous sign with that very name. How is it possible that I’ve lived here for four years and never even realised this place was right on my doorstep?

Back home a few minutes later, I was straight on their website checking out the various upcoming events. I settled on a show with a Tango singer and purchased tickets for my parents and me, hoping they’d enjoy something a bit different.

And oh, how pleased I was to have discovered this venue! The show was an amazingly talented singer from Buenos Aires, whose old soul shone through as she performed before the small crowed of around 10 people. Accompanying her was the most enchanting pianist I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to. A really incredible experience!

Another evening we enjoyed amazing jazz saxophonist and his band in the intimate surroundings of this jewel of a venue. It’s a really cool way to discover interesting music from all over the world!
