El comienzo del año fue muy ocupado para nosotros, con muchos viajes y visitas, así que decidimos aprovechar el fin de semana largo de Pascua para salir en moto en busca de un poco de tranquilidad… ¡y vaya que la encontramos! (Sí, ya sé que fue hace bastante tiempo, pero… ¡la vida ha estado ocupada!)

Cuando hacemos escapadas cortas por Cataluña, normalmente vamos a la costa, porque la Costa Brava tiene unos pueblos antiguos espectaculares, enclavados entre acantilados. Pero esta vez queríamos adentrarnos un poco más en el interior, para cambiar de paisaje.

Con temor a la lluvia que se había pronosticado para más tarde ese día, salimos a la carretera y llegamos a nuestro destino justo antes de una granizada. ¡Dios mío, qué alivio sentimos al ver La Garriga de Castelladral al tomar la última curva!

De verdad, fue uno de los mejores hoteles en los que me he alojado en mi vida; un lujo sutil, en plena naturaleza, con unas vistas espectaculares de Montserrat a lo lejos.

El día de Pascua hicimos una ruta en moto hasta un lago, y luego almorzamos un menú tradicional en un restaurante junto a una iglesia antigua.

El hotel está rodeado de bosques, así que por la tarde, mientras el Sr. BARNAENCANTA descansaba, salí a dar un paseo por una de las rutas que empiezan y terminan en los terrenos del hotel.

Y para rematar, el restaurante del hotel fue una maravilla. Cenamos allí las dos noches de nuestra estancia y las comidas fueron fabulosas: platos tradicionales elaborados con ingredientes frescos y de proximidad, acompañados de vinos locales muy interesantes. El desayuno cada mañana también fue excelente, y en la recepción del hotel incluso venden algunos de los productos locales que sirven en el desayuno, ¡incluida una miel de la zona que es una auténtica delicia!

En resumen, fue justo el descanso que necesitábamos después de unos meses intensos de trabajo, visitas y búsqueda de piso (quizá algún día escriba un post sobre eso 🙈). ¡Qué suerte tenemos de tener lugares tan maravillosos a un paso de casa! We had a busy start to the year with various trips and lots of visitors so we decided to take advantage of the long Easter weekend and hit the road in search of some tranquility and boy, did we find it! (Yes, I know that was ages ago but… life gets busy!)

When we take mini breaks in Catalunya, we often hit the coasts as the Costa Brava has some of the most spectacular old towns nestled along the craggy coast line but this time, we felt like heading inland for a change of scenery.

Wary of rain forecasted for later that day, we hit the road and arrived at our destination just as a hailstorm was setting in. My god, were we glad to see La Garriga de Castelladral as we rounded the last bend!

This was honestly one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in; quiet luxury surrounded by nature with the most spectacular views of Montserrat in the distance.

On Easter Sunday we decided to head off on the bike to check out a nearby lake, followed by some traditional grub in a cute restaurant adjacent to an old church.

The hotel is surrounded by forests so in the evening while Mr. BARNAENCANTA rested, I headed out for a stroll taking one of the many loops that start and end at the hotel grounds.

To top it off, the restaurant in the hotel was amazing. We had two fabulous meals there each night of our stay; traditional dishes made using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and interesting local wines. The breakfast each morning was excellent and in the hotel reception they also sell some of the local products that they include on their breakfast menu including the most flavourful local honey.

To sum it up, this was just the break we needed after a busy few months of work, visitors and house hunting (maybe a post on that someday soon 🙈). We’re so lucky to have such wonderful spots right on our doorstep; keep an eye out for future motorcycle diary posts.
